The second design featured two horizontal lines. The coin featured the lettering “भारत” and “INDIA” on the top, with Lion Capital in the middle and year of printing at bottom on the obverse. The reverse of the coin featured 15 notches and numeral 10 in the middle and at below line the word Rupees in English and रुपये in Hindi was written. [3] [4]

The Reserve Bank further said that it has issued 14 different designs, and also informed about the disticitve features of the same in various press releases. “As coins have longer life, coins of different designs and shapes circulate in the market at the same time. So far the Reserve Bank has issued ₹ 10 coins in 14 designs and the public has been informed of their distinctive features through Press Releases (list appended). All these coins are legal tender and can be accepted for transactions,” the apex bank noted.

“Nothing of that kind has happened. We have not even thought of it,” RBI spokesperson Alpana Kilawala said. “People should not hesitate in using the coins for transactions as these coins are legal tender.”
“Passengers do not want the Rs 10 coin. I try to reason with them but to no avail,” said Anurag Yadav, who drives an auto rickshaw in Delhi.

Another rumor claimed that fake coins in two designs have crashed into the market. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has on a number of occasions has dismissed the rumors of counterfeit currency of Rs. 10 coins in circulation. In September, it RBI issued a statement that stated, “The Rs. 10 coins are very much in circulation and those refusing to accept it could face legal action”. Now RBI has also asked people not to give attention to hearsay and continue to take these coins in all their transactions. “Nothing of that kind has happened. We have not even thought of it; People should not hesitate in using the coins for transactions as these coins are legal tender.” RBI spokesperson Alpana Kilawala said.
