The Department of Skill Development and Industrial Training, Haryana is imparting skill based training to the unemployed youth of state through the network of 166 Govt. Industrial Training Institutes (133 (Co-Ed.) GITIs and 33 GITIs for Women) and 242 Private ITIs under Craftsman Training Scheme. Engineering and Non- Engineering trade courses of one and two years duration are being run in these institutes. During current academic year 2018-19, 60544 sanctioned seats in 3540 trade units have been released for admission in GITIs and 38604 sanctioned seats in 2274 trade units have been released for admission in private ITIs. 72293 candidates admitted to Govt. & Pvt. ITIs in the session 2017-18. Admissions for session 2018-19 are in process.

Industrial Training Institute (ITI’s) are training institute which provide training in technical field in India. Normally a person who has passed 10 standard (SSLC) is eligible for admission to ITI. The objective of opening of ITI is provide technical manpower to industries. These persons are trained in basic skills required to do jobs of say operator or a craftsman. The course in ITI is designed in way to impart basic skill in the trade specified. Most of ITI’s impart training in technical trades like electrician, fitter, plumber etc. People of engineering trade can go for higher studies like diploma in engineering. There are also specialized short term courses in Advanced Training Institute (ATI) which enhances the skills of candidates. ITI qualified persons can set up their own garage, motor/generator/transformer winding shops or fabrication shops depending upon trade opted. There is no test held for admission to ITI Haryana CTS courses as per the last year information. The willing candidates need to apply on the official website, as mentioned above and fill out the application form. During the year 1966, the Government of Haryana constituted the state’s Skill Development and Industrial Training Department for managing the administrative affairs of the vocational training hubs. They are over 130 trade programs to choose from, with the inclusion of both engineering and non-engineering ones. The aspirants can enroll in the government-managed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) or the privately-owned Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) to pursue careers in the chosen trades.
At the national level and state level, the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) and State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) respectively, are responsible for conducting the varied trade programs. The NCVT lays down the guidelines; and the SCVT implements the same.
