Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, was found in 1995. The jurisdiction of the university extends to the courses being run in the areas of science, technology, engineering, pharmacy and management.
Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, was established on 20 October 1995 by an Act of the Legislature of the State of Haryana. It was formally inaugurated on 1 November 1995. It is named after Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj, a saint environmentalist of the 15th century.

At the postgraduate level, the university offers M.Tech degree under various specializations. The candidates must have completed their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline with minimum 55% marks to be eligible for admission.
Admissions to the MCA, M.Com, MPT, PG Diploma and M.Sc. programs are done on the basis of marks scored in the entrance test conducted by the university. Admission to MBA is done on the basis of CAT score. Admission to MBA (Part-Time) is done on the basis of entrance test and one year of working experience. Candidates seeking admission in M.Pharm need to appear in GPAT. Candidates with Non-GPAT must appear for entrance test conducted by the university. For MCA Lateral, admission is done through LEET.

In order to take admission in GJUST Ph.D. programme, the candidate are required to appear in the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the university. The admission in Ph.D. Programme will be granted on the basis of the merit list of the Entrance Test. Candidates will have to apply online for the admission process in the Ph.D. Programme. After qualifying the Entrance Examination, the candidate will have to attend the Pre.Ph.D. Examination.
Admission in MCA and MCA LEET programme there will be made on the basis of merit of entrance test to be conducted by the University plus sports weightage, if any.

The University is situated over a sprawling area of about 372 acres. The campus is laid out with picturesque landscape, numerous buildings of various sizes and wide road network. It presents a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty. Approximately 200 acres of area has been developed with all providing modern facilities such as road networks, sewerage pipe lines for water, electricity supply and parks have been developed at various places. The University has seven teaching blocks. There are 149 residential houses of different types for various categories of employees. Construction work for Staff quarters and Sewer line is under progress. Many more are planned. The University has the Branch of a nationalized bank Punjab National Bank with ATM facility and a post office in the Shopping Complex. Beautification of the campus is being attached priority to provide healthy and pollution free environment on the campus. The University is running its own cafeteria.
Training & Placement Cell arranges for Pre-Placement talks, written tests, group discussions, personal interviews for the student. The Training and Placement Cell liaisons with the potential industries and provides necessary guidance to the students. The Cell facilitates arranging on-campus placements of students in various industries, makes arrangements for students to participate in off-campus drives.
