The Boat People: Under The Ocean

Australia’s The Boat People recently released their third album Dear Darkly to rave reviews down under. The Brisbane-based band will be touring throughout the southern hemisphere spring and expect a U.S. tour in early 2011. This is their video for “Under The Ocean”, and seeing as how the beach seems to be every Aussie’s living room, coupled with the song’s title it all makes sense. Throw another shrimp on the barbie guys.

i wouldn’t have guessed the lead singer plays bass. the guy on the left looks like a bassist.

“guys, it will be simple. we will just have you play in front of a blue ocean. we will have you play to a sped up version of your song and then slow down the film so it looks like you’re singing in slow motion. not enough? ok fine, we will get a bunch of hot hipster chicks to watch you. cool now?”

Nic– thanks for giving these guys some exposure. I’m lucky to be living in Melbourne, Australia for a few months and to get to see them live. This album has got to be in my top 3 for the year. They are by far Oz’s most underrated export.
