Shows Gone Wild: Woodstock 1999

Shows Gone Wild is our look at the craziest and wildest events that have occurred at shows throughout live music history, captured on video.

What was supposed to be a reenactment of the festival for peace and love took a turn in the opposite direction. Despite the major hype and crowds of fans, negative factors such as the severe heat, poor organization, and lack of usable facilities condemned the show’s success. By the second day of the festival, the crowd ensued in a mass rebellion, from lighting immense bonfires everywhere to cutting water lines to looting merchandise booths. While luckily no one was killed, several women were raped and the property damage reached more than $1 million – leading to the demise of Woodstock.
