Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy Hits NY’s Bowery Ballroom For A Solo Show

Jeff Tweedy isn’t particularly know as a fun spontaneous guy. In fact his band Wilco who mix alternative rock and alternative country and have carved out their own unique space in the music world are considered to be very thoughtful and serious fellas. So how to explain his cuppla night’s of fun this past weekend in New York? Well number one he’s in the area on vacation and secondly maybe it’s the Hannukah spirit?

First up Tweedy joined in on Friday night at one of Yo La Tengo’s Hannukah show’s at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. Then on Saturday night he played a seat of his pants solo show at the 500 capacity Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan which apparently was, well, loose! According to Spin “Tweedy left much of the drama to his songs — but even they were delivered lightheartedly and with the sort of laid-back intimacy you’d expect if he was performing in your living room”.

Seems like a little down time is working wonders for the Wilco frontman. Check the full review and photos from the show here.
