Sufjan Stevens Begins Tour in Montreal

In a week that saw his new album The Age of Adz released, Sufjan Stevens kicked off a new tour with an eleven piece band in tow at Metropolis in  Montreal on Wednesday night. Regarded as something of an indie folk rock Shamen since the unexpected success of 2005′s Come on Feel The Illinoise, Stevens has been stealthily adding keyboard textures to his palate of sound to the point that synthesized prog like orchestral sweeps have taken his material and now the stage show to new levels of spectacle. Talking of Montreal (geddit?) all that’s missing is the Kevin Barnes glitz and pomp.

As Spin Magazine reports “Stevens was going for baroque, presenting something more expansive and disjointed than the concepts of yore.” See a full review and a scad load of cool photos here.
